Welcome to the 5th Bebington Brownies! We meet on a Thursday evening and there are 4 adults looking after our Pack ... Brown Owl, Barney and Snowy are uniformed Guiders and Jay is a Unit Helper. We also have 2 Young Leaders called Woody and Pipit. The Brownies are divided into four small groups – called sixes – and they are the Leprechauns, Ghillie Dhus, Gnomes and Scottish Kelpies. We also have the Hedgehog six who are our older Brownies almost ready to move onto Guides.
Our Brownie Adventure is based on three areas – You, Community and World, and the activities we do, help us to think about one of these areas. Our weekly meetings are a mix of games, crafts, group activities, challenges, badge work, competitions, indoor activities, outdoor activities and lots, lots more!
At the centre of everything we do is our Brownie Promise. We make our Promise when we join Brownies, and then we become part of a Worldwide family of Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.
Our Brownie Promise is:
I promise that I will do my best
To love my God
To serve the Queen and my country
To help other people
And to keep the Brownie Guide Law.
And the Brownie Guide Law is:
A Brownie Guide
thinks of others before herself
and does a good turn very day.
Above all, being a Brownie is about having FUN!! Take a look at what we have been getting up this year.......
On 22nd February, we celebrated Thinking Day by taking part in our District procession to Higher Bebington Park.
Here are some poems we have written about Brownies:
Brilliant Brownies
We have fun
And we run
At Brownies
We make
And bake yummy cake
At Brownies
We eat
And have treats
At Brownies
Chloe and Mia
Brownie Stars
Twinkling of brown and glittering of yellow,
They come helpfully down your road.
If ever you need a bit of help just give a shout …
And the stars will be there!
Blae
The Brownies Song
Brownies are great
Brownies are fun
Brownies help everyone.
We like games
We like crafts
We like to wear our Brownie hats.
Brownies do their best
Brownies are kind
Brownies help all mankind.
Emily and Catherine

Early in the year we learnt lots about the emergency services through meeting 3 police dogs, and visiting our local police station and fire station.

Next year, 2010, will be the centenary of Girlguiding and we are looking forward to lots of exciting things that are going to be planned for us. We kicked off the celebrations in style at our Wild-West themed District Launch Party in September.

This Summer, we went to Ivy Farm in Arrowe country Park for our Brownie Holiday, themed around the Madagascar films. We made cuddly penguins, fruit kebabs, grass skirts and flower leis amongst other things, and fitted in a visit to the playground and Chester Zoo!
