5th Bebington

The 5th Bebington Rainbow unit opened on June 5th 2006 and is now an established and thriving group in Higher Bebington. Rainbows, for girls aged 5 – 7, is the youngest section of the Guide Association. We meet on Monday evenings in term time from 6 o’clock to 7 o’clock in Grange church hall where we have up to 18 Rainbows, 5 Adult Leaders and 2 Young Leaders.

The Rainbow programme is based around the four themes of LOOK, LEARN, LAUGH and LOVE. We play lots of games and do crafts, activities and singing; we go on outings to such places as Storeton Woods and Tam O’Shanter Farm; and we have had visits from a Guide-dog puppy and a PAT dog, a martial arts instructor, a teacher of the deaf, and a paramedic to teach us basic first aid.

We learn about helping others by supporting various charities such as the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal, Children with Leukaemia, Jeans for Genes and the Guide Friendship Fund.

We also take part in local District and Division events with other Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units in the area such as trips to the pantomime at Christmas, Fun Days at the county campsite in Willaston and annual Thinking Day celebrations each February.

We are always proud and happy to see our Rainbows move up to the Brownie section, knowing that they are continuing on their Guiding journey.
