Officially starting in September 2007, the new Senior Section Unit is Higher Bebington’s most recent addition to the Guiding family.

Any girl or young woman who wishes to belong to the Guiding movement after the age of 14 can join either as a Ranger (a sort

of “senior Guide”), a Young Leader (a girl aged   14 – 18 who helps with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides and is working towards

her Young Leader certificate) or as a young qualified or trainee Guider (i.e. a leader of a Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit).

We meet on Monday evenings from 7.30 – 9.00 pm about six times a term. There are two adult leaders

and about 12 girls in the group at the moment and our aim is to HAVE FUN!

The programme is loosely based around eight areas called “octants”.

These include the creative arts, sport, health and fitness, community

service, outdoor activities (plus camping and other residential trips),

voluntary work at home or overseas, and the development of

personal skills in leadership and independent living. The choices

within these ‘octants’ are mainly up to the girls themselves.

So far we have enjoyed a team-building challenge evening,

outdoor cooking on trangia stoves, a ‘penny hike’ and a

“Pampering Pyjama Party”.

In the coming term we are hoping to support the Jeans for Genes

charity and the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal 2007.

We are planning a quiz night, an evening learning martial arts, a

Scottish themed evening for St. Andrew’s day, a talent show and a

trip to the theatre ………………....

The possibilities are endless and limited only by resources and the imagination of the girls!

We’d love to see you.
